With modern
visual appeal and attention to performance, the new Ladd 125'
is a design that's sure to turn many heads. As a custom commission
for an American client, the 125' ketch is the creative vision of Robb
Ladd Yacht Design. Detailed engineering for the project is being

notably, the sleek, smoked-glass, wraparound window on the Ladd
125' is what first catches one's eye. Crafted as a curvaceous
and continuous surface, this design element boldly introduces the
overall futuristic styling of the yacht. Low in profile, the entire
superstructure is an efficient compilation of individual forms that
blend easily together. The clean, uncluttered foredeck contains a
sculpted recess for inconspicuous dinghy stowage. The yacht's cockpit
is separated into two distinct zones. Towards the main house, a spacious
on-deck seating area provides ample comfort to lounging guests. Clever,
diagonal walkways offer a smooth transition and easy and protective
access to the side decks. Further aft, dual helm stations and automated
equipment provide easy control to the yacht's powerful sail-handling
systems. The vantage from either helm position presents a clear, unobstructed
view of the bow. |

Down below, the accommodations
are luxurious and yacht-like. With superb vistas of the surrounding
seas, the raised salon offers a comfortable lounge and seating area
to port, and a fully equipped navigation center to starboard - complete
with joystick steering control. Symmetric companionways lead forward
to a spacious main salon where an entertainment theatre is located
to port and dining for ten is located to starboard. Embraced by
the wrap-around main window, these central regions have cathedral-like
headroom and an inviting and romantic view of the stars.
The owner's quarters
are located privately aft. The luxurious stateroom sports an office/console,
settee, and companionway to the cockpit. Bathing is a pleasure with
separate water closet and soaking tub rooms. Lucky guests enjoy
no less comfort … four additional staterooms with en-suite
heads can be configured for either twin or king berthing. Captain's
and crew quarters are forward. The fully equipped galley layout
provides the equipment and layout to enable efficient food preparation
and cleanup.

Though on par with the finest
hotels, the Ladd 125' also provides first-class transportation
to any desired destination. The split-ketch sail plan offers well-balanced
power with easy, automated control. Though imposing, the rig is designed
to fit under New York's historic Brooklyn Bridge. Below the water,
an efficient, retracting bulb keel provides ample stability and yet
allows an 11.5' draft. The rudder also retracts for "squeaking"
into those inviting anchorages. And, when the need arises, dual 300
hp engines and twin screws can whisk one quickly home or away!
